a day on the russian river

  • Going to the park with Temko in the dewy morning, watching him play with the other dogs
  • Hanging out in Steve's apartment before leaving on the trip, listening to music and eating bakery with Mark, Steve, Rene, Scott, Ana
  • Heading back towards the city and watching the fog tendrils creep over the Marin headlands
  • Being blunt on the phone about expectations with Jesse moving in
  • Getting Temko to walk on my left side and heel with a little positive reinforcement

introduction

Last week, Clay and I were talking about hobbies and interests outside of work. He said that he read a lot, and I mentioned that I wanted to read and write more. His regular writing has a great theme: everyday he writes down a few of the good things that happened to him. A bonus reward: at the end of the year, summarizing the top good things of the year and reliving them as you review.

I'm on board. So here goes for 21 June 2008.

  • Walked in the surprisingly warm morning air to Peet's, just a block away. There was no line. The sun was out and there were some high fluffy cumulus clouds.
  • Argued angrily with Matt about whether or not I was a good doggie-parent while seeking his help to check in on Temko. After a lot of emotional conversation cleared the air and he also agreed to stop by. Now I can go canoeing on the Russian River with Steve and Scott!
  • Had a couple drinks with Matt, Kahele and folks. Came home, took Temko for a walk, and he had a nice solid poop!
